We’re only 23 miles from Edinburgh, and just one mile from the historic town of Peebles. But once you’re at Neidpath, Barns or Townhead, in your own sumptuous retreat, surrounded by rolling hills, forests and amazing views across the beautiful River Tweed, you’ll feel like you’re a world away.

Our team ensure fires are ready to be lit, and essentials like tea, coffee & milk are all in place for your arrival, with a dedicated team member reachable by phone at all times.

Daily hotel style housekeeping with fresh towels and turn down, can be booked for your stay if you wish an extra level of care and comfort. We understand if you prefer total privacy during your stay.

Locally sourced Breakfast Hampers can be added to your booking. Dinners at Neidpath, Castle Tours and Farm Tours can be booked through the website at various times.

A castle, all to yourself...

Mary Queen of Scots stayed at Neidpath Castle in August 1563, on her return journey from an exhausting three month tour of south west Scotland. The noble Hay family were trusted friends, and the Queen slept on this floor of the castle in a splendid four poster bed, with an open log fire. You can experience a little of life at Neidpath in the 16th century, but happily there are also lots of 21st century luxuries such as a roll top bath, and other little touches to make you especially welcome.

This gorgeous cottage is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, or a family holiday. Cosy and inviting, the Barmkin nestles alongside the castle in a truly exceptional location – close to the river, with a pretty cottage garden to add to its charm. It’s an ideal base to explore the whole area, and as well as the spectacular scenery there’s plenty to see and do. Peebles, with its coffee shops, fine restaurants, galleries and gift shops is just a short walk along the riverbank. World class mountain biking at Glentress and 7Stanes is nearby too.

Barns Tower stands in a tranquil setting on the upper slopes of the Tweed valley, overlooking the mature woodlands and open farmland of the Barns Estate. This romantic hideaway is your very own medieval mini castle, complete with a huge sleigh bed, inviting log fires – and reassuringly modern comforts. If you can tear yourself away, there are some lovely walks along the river and in the surrounding hills. The tower is just two miles from the castle, along a quiet private road on the estate.
